How to Enter

The deadline for the 2007 competition was 31st August. The arrangements for entry which applied in 2007 were as follows.

There is no entry form. Instead, entries should consist of 4 items:
1. One copy of Contact & Entry Details (on a separate sheet)
2. Five copies of the Supporting Statement
3. Five copies of the Work or a Representation of it
4. Acknowledgement & Return of Entry Postage

1. Contact & Entry Details

Please supply one copy on a separate sheet as entries are judged anonymously:

(i) your name
(ii) the name of the work
(iii) confirmation that you are the originator of the work, or the nominated representative of a group composition
(iv) indicate whether you are ‘emerging talent’ or ‘established talent’ and provide a brief statement explaining your choice of category (refer to point (9) under Terms of Entry).
(v) indicate where Call for Entry publicity was seen
(vi) your contact details (address, contact phone number, optional e-mail).

Contact information will be used by the Eco Prize office to return entries, to inform candidates that they have been shortlisted and for subsequent correspondence connected with the prize. It is the policy of the Prize not to add contact details to any mailing list or any database, nor pass them to associates, sponsors, funders or any other individual or organisation, but rather to return this information to the entrant with their returned entry.

2. Supporting Statement

Please supply five copies on a separate sheet. Please give the name of the work at the top of this sheet. Then supply up to 1,000 words explaining why you think your entry will positively and imaginatively promote environmentally friendly practices and greener living.

List your reasons under 4 headings:

flair - the degree of originality and imagination you think is demonstrated by the work
reach - the size and nature of the audience already reached and/or the plans for the work to be publicly available
impact - the potential impact of the work both immediately and in the longer term
inspiration - the ability of the work to promote and inspire greener living.

3. Copies of the Work or a Representation of It

Send five copies of the creative work as: (i) a published volume or bound text (eg, if a novel, short story or theatrical play); (ii) a single photograph, photographic set or digital images on CD (eg, if a sculpture, painting or a photographic collection); or (iii) DVD Video, a video tape (VHS), music CD or DVD/CD (standard PC program compatible) (eg, if a piece of music, a television programme or a piece of animation).

Do not send original works of art. We accept no liability whatsoever for any loss, damage or return of an original work that may be sent in error, or of disc contents that may be corrupted or damaged.

4. Acknowledgement & Return of Entry Postage

Please supply either an email address or stamped addressed envelope (sae) so we can acknowledge your entry. It is the responsibility of entrants to ensure they have an acknowledgement of receipt if they wish to ensure their entry has arrived safely. We accept no liability if an entry fails to reach us. Please note that if an email address or sae is not included, the entry will not be acknowledged.

Please also supply an address label and stamps to cover the postage cost of the return of your entry. If no stamps are included we cannot guarantee return and the entry may be destroyed by 31st October 2007. We accept no liability for the safe return of any, and all, of the material submitted.

The Eco Prize is awarded by the Eco Trust, a charitable trust. In 2007 its principal funder is Sust, the Lighthouse on Sustainability,
our contributory funder is the Loch Fyne Oysters Trust, with further financial support from the Russell Trust,
and it is run in association with Friends of the Earth Scotland and The Lighthouse.
